Newcastle based commercial printer NPS Group have upgraded their first-generation Duplo booklet and collating system 2000 with a new DBM-600 Booklet System from Glendale Presentation Solutions to increase production and to bring more work in-house.

“2022 marks our 20th anniversary from when we started out as a traditional high street print and copy shop called NPS Print, however, our reputation for quality and service led to rapid growth and a switch in focus more towards our commercial clients,” says Richard Bennett, Managing Director of NPS Group. “We’ve worked with Glendale for many years and their team is fantastic, very good at finding equipment to match our business needs, which the new Duplo DBM-600 booklet system does admirably. The new booklet system has already increased our production significantly but also make-readies and set up is much faster, meaning downtime has been reduced. Our previous bookletmaker was extremely reliable but was getting old, we were looking for something more automated, that is one of the reasons we chose the DBM-600. The transition between the old and the new booklet system has been really smooth, the training with Glendale and Duplo engineers was in-depth and our staff are really comfortable running and maintaining the system.”

Duplo’s DBM-600 is a fully automatic booklet system that offers versatility and precision to both offset and digital printers. Combining the high speed DSC-10/60i collator towers with the DBM-600 booklet maker and trimmer, provides users with the ability to finish booklets of all sizes including A4 landscape. The booklet system is PC driven so users can automatically set up the system within 60 seconds and changeover between jobs within 35 seconds, all without the use of any tools. The operator can create and save an unlimited number of jobs with ease for future instant recall and easily make any fine adjustments to 0.1mm accuracy whenever it is necessary.

Talking about why this model was chosen, Richard said, “The DBM-600 was specifically chosen because we wanted to bring all our A4 landscape in-house but we also needed to increase capacity and production levels with the increase in orders. As I mentioned, automation was a key consideration for us and we really love that it can save jobs for future so that repeat orders will take seconds to set up. Glendale depth of knowledge was very impressive, they had the answers to any query and their aftersales and support is excellent.”

Glendale is an independent supplier of finishing equipment throughout the UK and have been a Duplo dealer for many years. Like Duplo, Glendale’s priority is always the customer, bringing them the right finishing solutions with enough training to leave the customers comfortable with their new equipment. With a fully trained engineering team to install and maintain many Duplo systems, the DBM-600 at NPS Group is one of the larger Duplo booklet making solutions available through Glendale. In 2024 Glendale will be celebrating 30 years in business.

With a staff of 20 operating out of their 4900sqft factory, NPS Group specialise in the design, branding, production, and distribution of hundreds of printed materials for a wide variety of clients. We’ve also expanded into promotional print production and were able to launch our Brand Sentinel Web 2 Print software to help our clients save time and money whilst maintaining full control over budgets and branding. Our goal is to continue to invest in the latest technology and training and ensure the business continues to grow on the strong foundations already in place.”
